International Council on Mining & Metals — Mining Principles (2020)  ·  Period: 14 Mar 202614 Apr 2026

Purpose

ICMM membership requires Anglo American Platinum to publicly report on performance against the 10 Mining Principles annually. These principles establish minimum standards for responsible mining covering business integrity, community health, human rights, environment, emergency preparedness, and transparency — going beyond regulatory compliance to voluntary best practice.

Scope & Boundary

This report maps operational data from the ESG framework to Principles 6 (Protect the Environment), 8 (Emergency Preparedness & Response), 9 (Social Performance), and 10 (Transparency & Verification) — the four principles with direct evidence from waste management, hazardous materials handling, and community engagement data. Principles 1–5 and 7 are covered in the integrated annual report narrative.

Key Disclosures

  • Principle 6: ZW2L rate, hazardous waste handling, Scope 3 emissions
  • Principle 8: TSAS protocol compliance, GHS classification coverage, NEM:WA s30 incident reporting
  • Principle 9: Community waste collection, BBBEE contractor preference
  • Principle 10: GRI/SASB audit readiness, TSAS third-party approvals, manifest data lineage
